What is ChatterBox?
ChatterBox USA sells helmet communicators and accessories. The original helmet communicator was created by ChatterBox back in the 1970s. Maxon bought ChatterBox in August 2020 and is handling ChatterBox sales and service out of Lenexa, Kansas.
All of our communicators feature crystal-clear reception, best-in-class range, portability, and competitive pricing. ChatterBox communications systems are designed with interchangeable components and upgrades in mind, so that our customers can grow with us.
X2 Slim- p is a long-distance (Up to 5mi) helmet communicator that uses FRS/GMRS radio frequencies. If does not require pairing or a phone to be used to communicate to other X2 Slim-p, X2 Slim, or X1 devices. It has Bluetooth capabilities to pair with your smartphone for calls, music, & GPS.
Bit 3 & Bit 2 Series are Bluetooth Communicators that are ideal for Solo riders (Bit-2) or up to two people (Bit-3) depending on which unit you choose. Both will also pair to your smartphone for calls, music, & GPS.
Bit-3 Series (2-Rider) Bluetooth Communicators will pair with most other Bluetooth helmet communicators on the market in Universal Pairing Mode.
Yes. Both the Bit Series and X2 Slim-p have a VOX (Voice Operated Exchange) feature.
Yes. All of our devices can be charged when using.
For most of these types of riding, we recommend the X2 Slim-p due to the multiple functions it offers, the large jog dial (perfect for gloves), PTT button (so you only hear talking, not breathing), the FRS/GMRS communicator's radio range, and compatibility with FRS/GMRS walkie talkies already on the market.
All depends on what brand and each feature you will be needing or using for your riding. Each brand has its specialty.

No Mic Audio?
Check if mic works on other units. Try using your X2SP device on another person’s cradle & speaker system to see if the problem is the cradle.
Check if mic is plugged in backwards at connector. There are arrows on each plug and they must be on the same side when connected.
Communication
X1, X1Slim and X2 Slim/X2 Slim-P models will communicate only with each other (and most FRS/GMRS walkie talkies) because they are FRS/GMRS radio communicators. Our Bit-3 Bluetooth communicators will connect and communicate with other Bluetooth devices on the market in Universal Pairing mode.
Our BiT-3 series communicator will pair & communicate with other brands in Universal Pairing mode.
The X1 GMRS/X1/X2 Slim/X2 Slim-p models will only communicate with other FRS/GMRS radio devices.
It will stay on. Depending on the unit, it may go into Standby mode before it ultimately loses all of its charge.

Warranty
2 years from date of purchase for the communicators and 1 year for accessories.
Yes, we will need copy of receipt in order to approve an RMA warranty.
Yes it can. We do not recommend riding w/it in the rain. If the device gets water damaged, the warranty will be voided.
If your unit gets wet, disconnect from cradle, dry off completely, & leave out at room temperature with the power off for a few days before charging it again.
Buttons themselves are not replaceable within the wireless PTT button device. Your wireless PTT button device has a 1 year manufacturer's warranty from date of purchase.

You can purchase the X1 Slim Universal headset extension kit and either use the existing X1 Slim boom (or closed face) mic and speaker set you might already have lying around and attach it to the back of the X2 Slim-p. The X1 Slim mic & speaker set up allows you to combine them into one plug that will plug into the back of an X2 Slim-p.
